John Paul II's coffin is taken from the tomb




In this Friday, 29/04 from the tomb was the coffin containing the remains of the late Pope John Paul II.

The coffin of Pope John Paul II was placed in front of the Tomb of St. Peter, upon a platform covered with a white screen.

The remains of John the Pope Paul II will be in place until Saturday, when it will be brought to the Altar of the Confession of St. Peter, so that the faithful may venerate him once beatified by Pope Benedict XVI.

The coffin containing the remains of John Paul II will not open, and neither his body exhumed, given the short time since his death on April 2, 2005.

As soon as Pope Benedict XVI proclaimed Blessed John Paul II, the current pope and the cardinals will walk from St. Peter's Square to the basilica where he will fall down before the coffin of John Paul II.

After this time, all the faithful who wish may pay their respects to Pope John Paul II, who led the church for 27 years, from 1978 to 2005.

The chapel of St. Peter will remain open as long as the flow of the faithful for all to pay homage to the late Pope.
