John Paul II will be beatified on Sunday the 01/05/2011




The Vatican will promote next Sunday, 01 May 2011, the beatification of the late Pope John Paul II or Karol Wojtyla, his birth name. For the ceremony of beatification of John Paul II, the Vatican uses a relic with the blood of the former pope removed shortly before his death. The relic with the blood of John Paul II will be exposed for public worship her all over the beatification ceremony at the Vatican. After the ceremony, the vial of blood with the Pope will be kept in the Department of Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff, along with other relics. As the Vatican, the blood is in a liquid state due to an anticoagulant added immediately after harvest. The beatification will be held by the current Pope Benedict XVI in St. Peter's Square at the Vatican before approximately 300 000 people and 50 heads of state. According to Cardinal Angelo Comastri, archpriest of St. Peter's Basilica, the cathedral will remain open throughout the night between 1st and 2nd of May to allow the faithful to make his homage to the pope, whose remains will be kept in the chapel of San Sebastian, along with the Pietà by Michelangelo, the right of the Basilica. The coffin containing the remains of Pope John Paul II, however, will not be open to the public.
